I consider my own work as 'poetic realism'. It is not up to an artist to display a landscape as it is; nowadays everyone can do it themselves with a smartphone. The intention is to reflect the feeling that the sea and the beach evoke. And let that be exactly the same for everyone. Certain elements are magnified and others simply omitted. Just like poetry. A shaky balance is created so that the picture is never 'finished'.
I leave it to the viewer to complete the sea and the atmosphere around it to his own taste. "My work must stay alive. ;-)
" In my 'Regatta' paintings, for example, you will never recognize a specific boat and the characters can be completed freely. People are very typical for my work. You think you 'see' the characters moving and as you look closer they become almost elusive.
